“Christmas, my child, is love in action.” – Dale Evans
Upon first reading this quote, I immediately thought of family: my (now adult) kids and grandkids. Then, I began remembering Christmases when I was younger – how my mom and grandmother made Christmas feel special, like being wrapped in a warm hug.
Then, I reflected on Christ’s love.
Then, on one of my favorite Biblical quotes:
Christmas has been love in action from the very first Christmas: the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The Christmas season can get so hectic. People can get overwhelmed, trying to make Christmas perfect for those we love. It can be anxiety inducing: shopping for the perfect gifts, braving the crowded shops, or mentally calculating the money spent on presents and decorations. Allow yourself time to stop. Stop and reflect on memories of Christmases past. Stop and reflect on the love you have for your family. Stop and reflect on the love others have for you. Stop and reflect on the love of our Savior. Your anxiety will melt away.
The greatest gift you can give is the gift of time! Allow yourself to make memories this Christmas. People will remember the memories far longer than they’ll remember anything you wrap. Merry Christmas!
